Solar EnergySolar Hot Water
Solar water heating systems use free heat from the sun to warm domestic hot water.
The benefits include:
Hot water throughout the year: the system works all year round, though you'll need to heat the water further with a boiler or immersion heater during the winter months.
Cut your bills: sunlight is free, so once you've paid for the initial installation your hot water costs will be reduced.
Cut your carbon footprint: solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system and doesn't release any harmful carbon dioxide or other pollutants.
Photovoltaic Electricity
PV cells are panels you can attach to your roof or walls. Each cell is made from one or two layers of semi conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers. The stronger the sunshine, the more electricity is produced.
PV cells come in a variety of shapes and colours, from grey "solar tiles" that look like roof tiles to panels and transparent cells that you can use on conservatories and glass.
The strength of a PV cell is measured in kilowatt peak (kWp) - that's the amount of energy the cell generates in full sunlight.
The benefits of solar electricity include:
Cut your carbon footprint: solar electricity is green, renewable energy and doesn't release any harmful carbon dioxide or other pollutants. A typical home PV system could save around 1200 kg of carbon dioxide per year - that's around 30 tonnes over its lifetime.
Cut your bills: sunlight is free, so once you've paid for the initial installation your electricity costs will be greatly reduced. A typical home PV system can produce around 40% of the electricity a household uses in a year.
Sell electricity back to the Grid: if your system is producing more electricity than you need, or when you can't use it, someone else can use it - and you could make a bit of money.
Store electricity for a cloudy day: if your home isn't connected to the national grid you can store excess electricity in batteries to use when you need it.

Wind Turbines
Wind represents a vast source of energy that has already been harnessed for hundreds of years. The UK has the largest potential wind energy resource in Europe and wind power is currently one of the most developed and cost effective renewable energy technologies.
The modern wind turbine is quiet, simple to run and available in different sizes, depending on the required output. A small unit can attach directly to the roof and larger units will have their own support post.
The process by which energy is generated is fairly simple - when the wind blows the blades, the blades rotate a shaft. A generator converts the energy from the rotating shaft into electrical energy.

Efficient Heating
Underfloor heating
Underfloor heating requires less energy to heat a space than traditional radiators, reducing energy costs on average between 15% and 40%. They are simple to install and can be combined with other heat distribution systems where necessary.
Underfloor heating uses a radiant heat design to gently heat the room from the bottom up. Underfloor heating spreads the heat over the entire floor area, resulting in about half the heat being emitted as low temperature radiant heat. This gentle source of warmth reduces the heat loss from our bodies without overheating the surrounding air.
Efficient boilers
By recovering and using heat that would otherwise be lost, high-efficiency or condensing boilers use less gas to produce the same amount of heat as standard boilers. They do this by recovering and using heat that would otherwise be lost and wasted. With different outputs available to suit a variety of buildings, we offer a full range of state-of-the-art high-efficiency boilers from leading manufacturers.
